Making animation sequences

Hey guys,

I want to show you some animation sets I've made for this project. When I was doing some of the test animations I wasn't sure how many frames to create per animation, but from testing and observing some games I found that usually 2-4 frames of animation is usually the right amount depending on the movement.

Below I have gif set for Chun Li in Street Fighter 2. I looked the gif sets to understand how to animate my character.

I didn't want to spoil the whole thing so I just put a few of my sets in. There's a kick, a damage animation and a rolling jump. The rolling jump has too many animations but it looks cool as a still.

After Effects Progress

Working on an animated background. Got basic particle effect in the background, hope to have a fully animated background in the final version.

I've created the following animations:

Walking
Basic fighting stance
Damage body and head
Middle Kick
Punch to the head.

Still I want to do:

Jump
Jumping kick
Block
***Special Moves***

Got a lot of work to do.

Uni Project Update

Hey guys,

Just updating on the After Effects project. So here I'm working with layers and angles.

In the first screen shot you can see that there are two layers. The front layer will be for the characters fighting and the background layer will be for the background animation where I aim to have stationary acting as a crowd.

In the screen shot below you can see that I've created a set up where there is one version of me staring at another on the opposite sides of the desk. To the right side, you can see some SD cards jumping around. I'm designing an animated background with all sorts of stationary.

New animation for Uni

Just realised I gotta brush up this blog, it looks a bit dated since I made it...

Anyway! I thought I'd share my progress of my current project. For uni we have to make a stop motion or after effect animation, but the sake of it I decided to do a mixture of both.

In the screen below you can see what I've done so far. Initially I was going to do some 3D room and work with some of the techniques I already know, but then I was looking at some stopmotion videos on Vimeo.com and thought that my first concept was a bit boring and a bit more challenging to push to the standard I imagined.

So as you can see at the bottom I'm using after effects to make a kind of 2D fighting scene between myself and... myself? I aim to a bit day by day and I'll post my progress here. It's gonna be crazy! Get ready

My Portfolio Website

Hey Guys,

Check out my portfolio Website @ http://thisisjameslee.com/.

It took so long to make this website but I'm so happy it's done. Bare in mind this isn't the finished version. I'm working on pages for the main projects so that I can explain the purpose of each one! I hope you like it!

FatBee Productions and 2011

Hey guys,

This year has been really busy for me. I've been working on FatBee Productions most of my time, which is a collaboration group consisting of myself, two of my classmates and my good friend Boris. The idea of the group is to learn to utilise all our skills in a fun and productive way.

We've made 3 videos so far and you can check them out at youtube.com/fatbeeproductions.

Here is my latest video - Just some shots at night while in the car. Keep a look out for future productions from FatBee at tinyurl.com/5v6uh47
